The lesson from Dominic Cummings – the perils of GroupThink

Dominic Cumming’s evidence to MP’s yesterday about the Government’s handling of Coronavirus highlighted once again the dangers of ‘group think’.

‘It was a classic historical example of groupthink in action,’ Cummings told the committee. ‘The more people from outside attacked, the more people internally said, “They don’t understand, they haven’t got access to our information.”’

The term originated from analysis of the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion, under the stewardship of JFK.

We recently explored ‘the dangers of Group Think’ in a virtual Performance Hub hosted by Donald Barrell, Leading Edge Performance Advisor.

I thought it was timely to reshare the recording of that session.
